smart cars... are they really so smart?

smart cars; we all have heard of them, but how smart are they really??
Smart cars seem very small, and fuel efficient, but there is a dark side to the smart. Smarts are suggested to run off of PREMIUM fuels instead of cheaper, more efficient regular fuel.
In addition, the TWO SEATER smart starts at $11,590, IS THAT NOT STEEP??
sorry
The smart also offers only 33 MPG city, and 41 MPG highway. I rest my case.
On the other side of life, the Smart is easily customisable, with plastic, interchangeable body panels, and body kits, you can have a 1 of a kind smart.
so a purchase of a smart is sort of bitter-sweet.
Good...ish fuel economy, premium fuel.
easily customisable, for a base price of $11,590.
.... yeah that's what i thought.

Change

I have decided to change the genre of my blog from gas free, to gas friendly. It may not please all, but it sure will be easier on my part. So, without further ado, GAS FRIENDLY...

America's Air Car

Tata (the city cats company) IS planning to bring a version of this car to the U.S., but the catch is that the car will be made into a HYBRID!!! A mix of diesel or gas and air! can you imagine a vehicle that runs on air, achieves over 100 gas-equivalent mpg and over 90 mph, has low C02 emissions, has plenty of space for luggage, is safe , and costs the same as the average mid-size vehicle?
This is the performance expected from the new compressed air vehicle that Zero Pollution Motors is introducing to North America in at least 2010. The vehicle is powered by the Compressed Air Engine developed by Motor Development International. The air car has an extremely strong tank to hold the air. Yes it is sad that America doesnt get the FULLY air powered car, but it is still a small and affordable change.

Gas Free!

There has been yet another breakthrough in alternative fuels, and that is COMPRESSED AIR. India an ex-formula one engineer, Guy Negre, designed and built a car for Luxembourg-based MDI, that runs on compressed air. This car the "City Cat", is available only in India and France for about $12,700. I would like to bring this amazing car to the United States of America. This car can reach 68 mph and can travel up to 125 miles on COMPRESSED AIR! The exhaust is filtered cold fresh air. I mean honestly, $12,700 for a car that runs off air and emits air?! This company has also been working on a system that is an air compressor that runs on air so the car can compress it's own air and will never need to be 'filled up'. Now we all know about the effects of gasoline and the price of hybrids, but the 'City Cat' runs on air, puts out air and is very reasonably priced but we don't have it available here in the U.S. If they do bring it to the U.S. they are planning on making it a gasoline/air hybrid. Using about 8 gallons of gas per tank of air it could go as far as 1000 miles before needing a 'fill up'.
